BREATHWORK + THE MIND

Did you know that our thoughts are the most common form of stress? When being human gets hard, & stress hormones begin to accumulate in the body, the mind can become a radically unsafe place. Our minds are a reflection of our bodies; when we aren't managing stress efficiently, our psyche isn't either. Excess stress deteriorates the quality of our thoughts, often turning our headspace into a dumpster fire that we (understandably) seek to escape. Unfortunately for wine & Prozac, there's a better way. Modern technology offers novel insight into the mind-body connection, leading us right back to the basics. i.e. our breath.

It turns out?  We are the medicine. Thru intentional breathwork, we can reverse the stress response in the body & bring our mental state back into balance... on demand.  #superpower

BREATHWORK + THE BODY

Breathing is one of the only brain functions we can consciously control. Why? Perhaps it’s by design, to give us agency over our physical vitality. Our bodies are intelligent, highly sophisticated biological systems that require adequate energy in order to thrive. Disease is synonymous with stress because stress is incredibly expensive to the body. Whether it’s emotional, physical, chemical, environmental or infectious, responding to stress demands a sh*t ton of ATP. 

In nervous system dysregulation, our stress response can become excessive, creating an energy deficit that forces our cells to choose which essential tasks they can perform & leaves our bodies vulnerable to disease. 

Cue breathwork! Strategic breathing is the most efficient way to reduce stress in the body. It also stimulates brain + nervous system detoxification, further easing energetic demand, restoring adequate voltage to the fundamental processes that allow our systems to thrive.

BREATHWORK + THE SOUL

We don't often think about our breath; the very force that gives us life. It is the portal to the teacher within, just waiting to be embraced. Breathwork, like plant medicine, disarms the psychological & physiological defenses that form the boundaries of our ego. It removes the blockages from past trauma that limit our intrinsic awareness & enables us to travel beyond the conditioned mind, to unknown personal depths, where profound transformation can occur.

While most healing modalities have incredible utility, breathwork is uniquely rooted in personal agency. Meaning, we are not offloading our agency (giving our power) to something outside of us. This lays the foundation for our ability to congruently express our full & compassionate truths, in every aspect of our lives, which is medicine the world desperately needs.
